The Styx is an outside-the-waistband (OWB) dual magazine carrier engineered to provide consistent retention and reliable access for double-stack pistol magazines. Designed for shooters who prioritize efficiency during reloads, the Styx utilizes a pancake-style geometry to keep two magazines tightly secured against the body, minimizing the profile of your loadout.

Technical Specifications & Materials

We believe that gear should be as durable as the environment it is used in.

• Construction: Formed from high-grade Kydex/Holstex, selected for its impact resistance and rigidity.

• Profile: OWB Pancake design. This creates a curved, body-hugging shape that reduces outward print, unlike rigid “box” style carriers.

• Attachment: Compatible with belts up to 1.75” wide. The mounting points are spaced to provide a stable, non-wobble platform on the belt.

• Retention: Integrated Magazine Retention Devices (M.R.D.s). These allow for adjustable tension without needing to heat or re-mold the kydex.

The Retention System

The core of the Styx is the M.R.D. (Magazine Retention Device). Unlike traditional friction-fit carriers that rely solely on the tension of the molded plastic, our M.R.D. system uses a mechanical adjustable screw to apply pressure directly to the magazine body.

• Customizable Tension: You can dial in the exact amount of resistance you prefer. This allows for a “snatch” draw that is identical every time, regardless of temperature or humidity changes that might affect the plastic itself.

• Universal Fit within Caliber: Because the tension is adjustable, the carrier is not strictly tied to one specific magazine brand. It will accommodate most double-stack magazines of the same caliber with a simple adjustment of the retention screw.

Compatibility

The Styx is standard-configured for 9mm and .40 caliber double-stack magazines.

• Compatible Firearms: Works effectively with magazines from Glock, Sig Sauer, H&K, Smith & Wesson, and other major manufacturers using standard double-stack architecture.

Care & Maintenance

To ensure your Styx continues to perform reliably, we recommend a simple maintenance routine:

1. Check Hardware: Over time, the vibration from training and travel can loosen screws. Periodically check the mounting hardware and retention screws to ensure they remain tight. We recommend using a small amount of thread locker (like Blue Loctite) on screws once you have finalized your preferred retention setting.

2. Cleaning: Kydex is inert and easy to clean. If the carrier becomes dirty from range dust or sweat, simply rinse it with warm water and mild dish soap. Make sure to oil all metal hardware and remove moisture before re-inserting your magazines.

3. Heat Exposure: While the materials are heat-resistant, do not leave your carrier in high-heat environments (such as a vehicle dashboard in direct summer sunlight) for extended periods, as this can alter the molded shape.
